Our History

"What more do our customers need?"

That's the question that drives us, makes us improve, and keeps us working hard.

When longtime Boerne residents and Barkley's customers Cliff and Rhonda Wheeler bought Barkley's Home & Ranch Center in 2011, their vision was simple: to provide more of what Barkley's customers need. By doing so, the Wheeler's wanted to create a full-service destination for customers to find all of their western and livestock products in one great location. No need to drive all the way to San Antonio; we've got it right here at Wheeler's. A full-service destination.

The Wheelers, surrounded themselves with a dynamic team of friendly employees who also happened to be experts in their fields, longtime users of the types of products the store offered, and ready to give advice whenever a customer needed it. Armed with the best staff around, the Wheeler's Trailers & Outfitters family's first priority was to make sure customers always found what they needed, so inventory was bolstered and the shelves were loaded with high-quality products.

A year into the business, in 2012, Wheeler's took its customers' needs to heart, and began our next phase of growth by expanding the selection geared to our customer base. We didn't want to offer everything under the sun, but we did want to provide the things our customers wanted and needed. So what began as a store offering feed, guns, ammo, and pet supplies, soon grew to a full-service destination offering high-quality Western and English tack, roping supplies, archery equipment, a full selection of pet food and supplies, hunting gear and knives, lawn and garden supplies, and much more. If you need quality, durable products for your wildlife sports activities, you'll find it at Wheeler's.

Our next area of growth was our website. In October of 2014, we unveiled a new store site that offered our products online. Not only did this open up an expanded customer base, but it gave local customers the convenience of seeing what we had, checking out our prices, and either buying online or coming into the store with knowledge of what they were looking for. We're continuing to improve our site with helpful information, tips, how-to's, videos, and more as a resource for our customers.

Everything's bigger in Texas

Always looking to improve, Wheeler's next phase has been quite the undertaking: we doubled the size of the store, built a new entrance, renovated all current facilities, and expanded every department. More space, more products, more brands, and more services. Bigger, better, and more of the perfect destination we envisioned from day one. December. We've added Western clothes, hats, and boots for men, women, and kids, we've expanded our hay barns, and added an awesome new archery range to try products right here on-site.

And we're now proud to offer our very own horse trailer building with new and used horse trailers, and an exclusive trailer washing bay. For the first time ever in Boerne, horse trailer owners can get their dirtiest, grimiest equipment cleaned and shined with a citrus wash and aluminum brightening wash. There's no longer a need to drive a long ways to get it done; we now offer this service in one destination.

Looking toward the future

As Cliff and Rhonda Wheeler, and the entire Y-Bell Trailers & Outfitter's family, work hard to make the store your full-service destination, we can't wait to see what the future holds. We know one thing for certain: we will always work hard to improve, grow, and better serve our customers, and we'll always keep asking, "What more do our customers need?"
